After the release of her debut single “Sweeter Than Poison” on September 22nd, Lilise shows no sign of slowing down with the release of her second single “You Don’t Own Me”.

Lilise’s new single shows how she can put her emotions into words that will speak to anyone who remembers their first teenage love and break up. Her music is acoustic pop, with well crafted melodies and a balance between gentle introspection and exuberant defiance. The message of ‘you don’t own me’ is played out throughout her songs in themes of body image, misogyny, love and heartache.

Talking about her new song, the young singer explains: “‘You Don’t Own Me’ is about a teenage heartbreak where I felt too attached to be able to let go. It is about feeling a constant lack of control and how it affects your mental health.”

Lilise’s music embodies a youthful combination of introspection and exuberance, delivered as acoustic pop with hints of folk and Americana, and with themes that touch on body image, misogyny, love and revenge. Lilise bares her soul in her lyrics and has a precocious talent for telling stories through her songs.

Lilise has recorded her debut self-titled EP while still studying for her A-Levels and working towards studying clinical psychology at university. Hailing from where Kent meets Greater London, Lilise has been steadily honing her songwriting skills and live performance. She has an unwavering commitment to her artistic vision, boldly standing out in her ballgown and Doc Martens, and has the ambition to make it as a songwriter and performer.

Lilise writes her music on piano and guitar, but as a grade-8 vocal student it’s her voice that’s her real gift, which has an ethereal quality that has drawn comparisons with Billie Eilish. She writes emotionally charged lyrics and songs that talk to her audience on a personal level and are easily relatable for listeners of a similar age.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Taylor Swift, Sara Kays and Maisie Peters, Lilise manages to infuse her own sounds to create unique tracks.
